Enjoy a farm tour at the R & R Cottage South Australian farmstay
|
As a farmstay we offer a ride around the property
in our crew-cab, and if children would like (and carers permit), they can
ride in the back of the ute; we also allow children to help us feed out
hay to the sheep if it is that season of the year; there are chooks to
feed and eggs to collect (usually!!); and sometimes we have a pet lamb
or two to feed and play with.
A couple of friendly alpacas are near
the house for most of the year and these will normally come up to say hello
to visitors. The sheepdogs are always popular - very friendly, if occassionally
a bit too boisterous for some, and they love chasing a ball or pine-cone for the children.
Guests always seem interested to watch the dogs work sheep and there are often jobs that require
the sheep to be brought in to the yards.
As a working farm, there are different jobs that
need to be done - drenching, crutching, shearing, lambing and so on, but
these activities depend on the time of the year. We are happy to
include our guests in any of these activities to the level of their choice
and ability.
